Creating a smiley with a cap
Start by creating a circle using elliptical shape tool.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Create an elliptical selection using elliptical marquee tool. Create a new layer and apply a black to white gradient in linear mode.
Change the layer mode to screen.
Create a circle using elliptical shape tool.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Create an ellipse for the eye ball using elliptical shape tool.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Duplicate the eye layers and place it on the other side.
Create an ellipse for the mouth using elliptical shape tool.
Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool.
Enable subtract form shape area form the top bar. Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Ctrl+Click the layer thumbnail to get the selection. From select menu apply modify>>contract. Contract the selection by 2 pixels. Create a new layer and apply a black to white gradient in linear mode.
Change the layer mode to color dodge.
Create a flap using pen tool.
Apply the same layer style and layer mode as we did for the cap.
Using pen tool create depth of the cap.
Select all the layers and scale down.

Beehive on a Fire Style Background

Creating a beehive on fire style background
Start by applying a gradient to the background.
From filter menu select distort>>twirl. Apply settings as shown.
Select magic wand tool and click on the red area to get a selection. Press Ctrl+J to copy paste the selection in a new layer.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Similarly select other colors using magic wand tool. Duplicate the selection and apply the same layer style.
Select and merge all the layers. From filter menu select distort>>stained glass. Apply settings as shown.
Add new effect layer from the bottom of effect window. Select plastic wrap from the artistic menu. Apply settings as shown.
Duplicate the layer. Change the layer mode to difference.
Duplicate the layer again and change the layer mode to color.
Select and merge all the layers. Duplicate the layer. From filter menu select distort>>ocean ripple. Apply settings as shown.
Change the layer mode to linear dodge.

Fun Navigation Header

Creating a header for an amusement park site

Start by creating a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool.

Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.
Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool.
Using pen tool create a shape as shown.
Duplicate the layer. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select flip horizontal. Place on the other side.
Duplicate the initial shape layer. Move this layer above all the layers in layer order in layer palette. Fill it with gray color.
Create a flower 2 shape using custom shape tool.
Enable subtract form shape area form the top bar.
Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool.
Select the black ellipse layer. Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Apply the same layer style to all other layers.
Create a small circle using elliptical shape tool. Apply the same layer style.
Create several duplicates and place as shown.
Create an elliptical path using elliptical shape tool in path mode.
Using text tool click on this path and type the button links.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Insert company logo and place as shown.
Duplicate all layers and press Ctrl+E to merge. Enable lock transparent pixels from layer palette. Fill it with black color.
Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select distort. Adjust nodes to create a perspective shadow. Reduce the opacity to 50%.
