Divine Light Background Effect

Creating a divine light background effect

Start by select brush tool. Enable the default chalk 60 pixels brush settings.

Apply some strokes of this brush in a new layer.
Change brush mode to vivid light.
Apply the strokes with different colors.
From filter menu select sketch>>photocopy.
Press Ctrl+I to invert the colors.
Press Ctrl+U to open hue/saturation window. Apply settings as shown.
Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Select rise from the preset warp styles at the top bar.
Press Ctrl+T and scale down.
Duplicate layer. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select flip horizontal. Place as shown in the image.
Duplicate layer. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select flip vertical. Place as shown in the image.
Select all the layer and duplicate the layers. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select flip horizontal.
Select and merge all the layers. From filter menu select artistic>>plastic warp. Apply settings as shown.
Press Ctrl+U to open hue/saturation window. Apply settings as shown.

XP Style Flatbed Scanner Icon

Creating Windows XP style icon for a flatbed scanner
Start by creating a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool.
Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Press Alt key and keep hitting the down arrow key to create 3d extrusion.
Select and merge all the duplicate layers. Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Select the merged extruded layer and scale up a bit.
Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select distort. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown. Move this layer below the scanner top layer in layer order in layer palette.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Create an ellipse for the button using elliptical shape tool.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Create a selection of left edge using polygon lasso tool.
Create a new layer and apply a black to white gradient in linear mode.
Change the layer mode to screen.
Similarly create shiny layers on top of all other parts of the scanner.
Create more buttons.
Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool. Enable subtract form shape area form the top bar. Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Select and merge all the layers.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Cool Text Effect

Cool Text Effect
Start by typing your text with a bold font.
Right click the layer in layer window and select rasterize type.
Ctrl+Click the layer thumbnail to get the selection.
From select menu apply modify>>contract. Contract the selection by 3 pixels.
Press delete.
From select menu apply modify>>contract. Contract the selection again by 3 pixels. Fill it with black color.
Repeat the above steps.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Duplicate the layer. Double click the layer to open layer style window. Click on the styles tab on top left (shown in blue color) and select Black 2pt filled style from the default styles presets.
